This is a lipstick I’ve had for what feels like a million years – but is probably more like 3 – and I’ve genuinely worn a lot. If you saw todays video (my entire lipstick/gloss collection) you will understand how easy it is for me to swatch something for a review and then never wear it again so to have worn anything multiple times is a pretty big deal.

It looks a little creamy on the lips and has a hint of shine but when applying it feels almost matte. Some of you will hate that feeling no doubt but for me it’s the sign of a long wearing product and this is great for wear time but doesn’t leave my lips looking or feeling dry. All that aside it’s the colour that’s the reason I’ve worn it so often, it’s the perfect rosy pink for my skin tone and a great every day shade (I say that all the time, don’t I? – I know.. I’m hearing it now)

The packaging is very basic but I like the consistency from Maybelline.. the Color Sensational line launched years ago but the recent additions of the Vivids and even the Whispers (not yet in the UK – fingers crossed though) share the same format and for a collector like myself how the tubes look together is important – I realise that’s not something everyone cares about. Another thing to note is that the lids are coloured dependant on the colour family, this is purple (hmm) the reds are reds, pinks are pinks etc.. I like that.

Someone asked me on twitter today if I knew of any comparable brands to MAC when it came to lipstick and I thought it was worth mentioning that this line reminds me a lot of the satin finishes from MAC but that also I don’t think that they are the be all and end all of cosmetics. They make great eyeshadows, blushes and lipsticks but so do lots of other companies and they’re not often a benchmark for me. I’m not sure when MAC became God of makeup but there are only two items I would rebuy from the beauty hall rather than Boots and neither of them are from the uber popular blogger brand. – For those wondering they are Smog eyeshadow by Urban Decay (I’m narrowing it down to my all time favourite but basically they are it for eyeshadow for me) and my current eyebrow love, Smashbox Brow Tech To Go.

Totally off topic but that question kind of threw me for a loop so I’m wondering, do people really think MAC is the creme de la creme? Or is it just a keeping up with the Jones’ deal?
